Breast Cancer Screening with Mammography

Mammography is a specific type of imaging that uses a low-dose x-ray system to examine breast tissue.

A mammogram is often used to aid in the diagnosis of breast disease in women experiencing symptoms such as a lump, pain or nipple discharge.

Screening mammography is used to detect early breast cancer in women who have no symptoms.

Most women should be screened with mammography from age 50 to 75 every two years. For women who may be at a higher risk of developing, please check with your doctor for individualized guidelines.

Please visit Cancer Care Ontario for more detailed information on breast cancer Screening.
