FOBT Colorectal Cancer Screening and FOBT (Fecal Occult Blood Testing)

Ontario has among the highest rates of colorectal cancer in the world.

It has been proven that screening test of stool specimen for detecting fecal occult blood can detect colorectal cancer at its early stage.

FOB tests are usually done as part of routine examination, for people over age 50 who have no symptoms and are average risk. For those at higher risk a colonoscopy is the screening test of choice. Please check with your doctor to determine your risk. Most people who have them done do not have any symptoms. They are used mainly as a screening tool for early detection of cancer.

Please visit Cancer Care Ontario for more detailed information on colorectal cancer screening.
